Ready to dive deeper into the E & E process and gain an elemental understanding of how it works?
The video below will explain the basic tenets of the E & E (Experimentation and Evolution) process and lay the foundation for the rest of the course.
When most people first hear about E & E, their first reaction is one of relief and excitement: they’re relieved to find that there’s a better way of doing things, and they’re excited to get started with the process.
Then they usually have questions:
Does this mean I’m supposed to skip around and try a bunch of different jobs and professions?
No way! Skipping around from one job to the next is one way of experimenting and practicing E & E, but I don’t recommend this as the most effective or efficient way to do things. As I mentioned before, you can practice E & E while you’re still at your current full time job or completing your studies (and in fact, this is usually recommended). That’s the way I started out practicing E & E. I’ll show you how this works and ways of experimenting without spending everything you’ve got in the upcoming modules.
Are you saying that we find our way completely by trial and error and that we stumble our way into our paths purely by chance?!
Absolutely not. Although there is an element of chance involved, E & E is a conscious, deliberate process, much different than blind stumbling or pure trial and error. Because we have clear guiding principles (i.e., a compass) and a concrete process to help us navigate, we can know that we’re always on course.
I have no clue what types of “experiments” to do or how “evolve” and branch out after I do do an experiment.
Don’t worry; these are all things we’ll cover in depth within the upcoming modules. I’ll be giving lots of real life examples and helping you understand exactly how the process works.
First, though, you’ll need to get prepared for our E & E journey. The remainder of this module will cover everything you need in order to take the first preparatory step, which involves understanding the nature of the journey.
